Learned to wear (and juggle) many hats as I project managed writing processes for investment reports and proposals, brainstormed engagement strategies for potential stakeholders, and designed engaging partnership visits. While my greatest achievement on paper may be that my efforts contributed to over $1.2 million raised in committed funding, I am most proud of having the unique opportunity to interact and learn from creative and innovative young entrepreneurs across East Africa (Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya). Field Operations Intern

Jun 2017 - Aug 2017
Dove head first into One Acre Fund's operations as a successful applicant of their Young Professionals Program. Eager to get my hands dirty, I supported operations in the office and the field through various projects that included: coordinating the distribution of company supplies across five regions in Tanzania; co-designing focus group discussions to analyze farmer re-enrollment trends, and supporting weekly strategy trainings for field officers. It was my experience as an OAF Intern that cemented my interest in international development and my love of field work. Show less

Successfully merged my two passions (food and early childhood education) into one role! On paper, I developed & executed play-based learning math & science lessons in an urban garden to elementary school students. In real life, this meant I ate cherry tomatoes and counted earth worms with young learners -- truly couldn't think of a better way to spend my afternoons! For better or for worse, I signed up for another year of service as an AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Member -- only this time I served across the West Coast. I spent the best seven weeks of my life living and working on an environmental stewardship project in Sequoia National Park, and even built a paintball field for at-risk youth in Alaska! I also received a crash course on conflict resolution and the importance of open communication while living on a team of 8 young adults. If I could go back and advise my younger self, I would tell her to rise above the self-doubt and return to AmeriCorps NCCC as a Team Leader. Show less

Camp Counselor
-
May 2013 - Sep 2013
Are camp counselors just glorified baby sitters? Absolutely not! I spent two amazing summers (2012 & 2013) roasting marshmallows, riding horses, teaching archery, and leading low ropes courses to children and adults. I fostered the social-emotional development of children ages 4-16 through play-based activities -- all while eating one-too many s'mores and having an absolute blast. Alchemized my high school counselor and East African father's lectures on the importance of higher education and turned the world into my classroom as an AmeriCorps NCCC member right after high school. Traveled throughout the mid-west and partnered with a variety of organizations including FEMA, the Red Cross, and March of Dimes to support community-led programs through hands-on support.
