I have known Sabrina for a number of years, and had the opportunity to work very closely with her in her role as tutor for my courses, my PhD student and a casual lecturer at AUT. I have seen her presenting at conferences and published with her. Sabrina is one of the most dedicated people I have met, working incredibly hard, at a very high standard, resulting in superior outcomes - no surprise she received various scholarships, prizes and awards! The great thing is that she remains a very likeable and humble person, who always makes time to help others, be it her peers as a doctorate student, her own students, or her colleagues. I couldn't speak higher of her, and while I am sad that she is not in New Zealand anymore, I am looknig forward to many years of collaborative work, wherever we are.

Sabrina became part of our research institute right after graduating from our university. Since Sabrina brought with her a very quick grasp and a high degree of initiative, she was able to work on independent research projects very quickly. She has always been very responsible and a real team player. We would have liked to keep her as a colleague, but we had full understanding when she left us to dedicate herself to her doctorate in New Zealand. Working with Sabrina is a win-win situation for any employer.

While completing my PhD I had the privilege to become an active member of the teaching team in the School of Hospitality & Tourism at Auckland University of Technology. Due to my flexibility, diligence and openness as well as my positive student evaluations, I was progressively given more responsibilities and tasks within the school. This allowed my to gain valuable teaching experiences in a variety of courses and different degree levels (undergraduate & postgraduate). I taught management related courses, such as Hospitality Human Resource Management and Hospitality Finance & Accounting, tourism-related courses, such as Tourism Industry Operations and Contemporary Topics in Tourism, a tourism research paper where students developed their own little research project and conduct primary research, as well as an inquiry-based learning paper (Knowledge & Inquiry) in which students developed critical thinking skills. I have also supervised undergraduate students in the final project at AUT, which is a three month work-integrated learning course in which students gain practical experiences in the industry and independently work on an implementable project, such as a social media strategy. I have also examined dissertations of students completing a Master in Tourism Management / Hospitality Management.

I completed my Master thesis in cooperation with the Institute for Management and Tourism (IMT), gained first work experiences as a student research assistant from January to September 2011 and was offered a full-time position after completion of my degree. While my main responsibilities and duties were related to a large-scale research project that had been established already (Destination Brand), I was progressively given more responsibilities and became a project leader by 2012. The IMT is working in close collaboration with the tourism industry acorss Germany and offers strategic consulting for Destination Management Organisations on different levels. Part of my role was to conduct workshops and seminars as well as delivering presentations for different audiences. My key achievements are: • Development and measurement of KPIs/controlling systems and BSC for destinations • Development of target-group-specific theme marketing strategies for several German federal states. • Development of an internationalisation strategy for the Destination Brand study series My main duties were: • Planning and preparation of quantitative large-scale surveys (panel research, population representative), implementation in close collaboration with other market research institutes • Data-record generation, data evaluation (mostly SPSS) & preparation, interpretation and written reporting • Academic support and assistance in strategic realignment of tourism companies • Workshops and presentations for different target audiences • Preparations of grant applications for external funding.
