I was on the IBM Foundation, Ignite Scheme as part of a trainee ship with City Gateway. The Ignite Scheme was a 5 weeks placement with IBM. I joined IBM Security UK&I and was placed in the operations team. I was working closely with the Security Operations Business Analyst. During the placement I was given varies tasks that would help me to understand what IBM Security does, how it functions and more specifically what role a business analyst has in the whole process. As an Ignite Trainee Operations Business Analyst I worked a lot with Microsoft Excel to consolidate all the data, analyse this and present it to managers and executives with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word. During my time at IBM I have gained a great amount of experience in a corporate office environment such as: • Understanding how the business unit function within a corporate company and how different job roles can link to each other through some work shadowing that I have done. • The ignite Scheme has helped me to improve on how to behave in a professional manner in an office environment.
