Sabina and I worked for Bellerbys for around 10 years when I was Principal of Bellerbys London. She had always impressed me as she moved upwards in her Admissions roles: calm, efficient, solution-focused. When she was appointed Head of Admissions, however, I was worried if she had the strength of character to run such a complex department. In fact, she excelled. She was hard-working, diplomatic, caring, and simply wanted to find the best outcome. She is a good example of the fact that you don't have to be a dominant personality to lead - you just have to be good at your job, empathetic, effective and efficient. Leading by setting an excellent example to those around you is more effective than domineering!
