At Artistori, we use story-telling and inquiry-based teaching approach to connect with children and teens, encouraging them to express and think creatively. We always challenge ourselves and come up with new projects with fresh themes and use of different mediums for each one. It was an exciting process to push our thinking and creativity limits. This allows us and the students to explore different art styles, materials and medium hence making each lesson exciting and fun as there is always something new to learn and to experiment with. We guide them to apply their imagination, creativity and different techniques onto art, making their art piece unique and original. To build their confidence, we encourage children to draw boldly without hesitation and embrace making mistakes. Besides project and lesson plannings, we also capture the moments of our students engrossed in their own art and also their final product. We then share them on our social media pages to connect with the parents and share insight on what we do at Artistori. Believing in the importance of developing a child, we often come up with workshops and events for our students to participate during their school holidays. We organised carnivals, camps, excursions to learn pottery and do outdoor watercolour paintings, and fundraisings. By doing so, we let our students grow with independence, responsibility and compassion. Dealing with the different personalities of children, I have become more patient, observant and learned better on how to be a leader and guide the people around me. Adding on, having to plan lessons and do presentations for the classes, I possess better organising and communication skills.

I originally started out as an Intern at Orient, after I completed my internship, I was offered to continue as a freelancer in the company which I had gladly accepted and continued for another 3 months. At Orient, I focused on branding and packaging design. I worked with cafes, cosmetic and supplement companies, ice company and many more. From brainstorming to ideas pitches and tackling exciting projects, I have grown as a designer in this heart-warming studio. I did customer relationship management, handle customers' enquiries, was in charge of crowd management during the dolphin show and educating visitors about our aquatic friends at the touch pool. I enjoyed educating the visitors about our pink dolphins for our dolphin interaction, it is a lovely experience to interact with them and hearing their experiences. By interacting with them, I can also cater better to their needs and give them advice on how to have a more wholesome experience at Underwater World and at Sentosa. Besides educating the visitors about our dolphins, I love to share with the visitors about our aquatic friends that consist of bamboo sharks, stingrays, starfishes, pufferfishes and more. During feeding time, I introduced each species, explain what I am feeding them and ensure that they understand the right etiquettes when handling our aquatic friends. Watching children getting excited when interacting with the animals and watching me feed them was really uplifting. And when they came to ask me more questions about the animals with a look so eager to learn, I couldn't help but felt that my work was really rewarding.

      • Jun 2014 - Jun 2014

A Work Experience Programme from school gave me an opportunity to experience my childhood dream as a Zookeeper! It was a lot of fun, sweat and walking. I had the chance to be a part of the magic's behind-the-scenes — interacting with animals, preparing their food, cleaning their enclosures and hosting feeding sessions as well as mini show-and-tells. The animal friends I worked with were the pygmy hippos, kangaroos and wallabies, cassowary and emu, tree kangaroos and many primates like the red-ruffed lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs and saki monkeys. They made my short time at Singapore Zoo a more precious and magical one.
