It was developed through a collaboration with NERDLab, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue under the Firefighter Cancer Initiative (FCI) to learn more about firefighters’ exposures to toxins and to identify safety measures to reduce any identified risks. 2. SCAN Portal • Edited visual data slides (cancer statistics, community outreach efforts) in Photoshop for a presentation to help secure project funding Background: SCAN Portal is an interactive visualization tool for cancer in the state of Florida. It uses information from Sylvester Cancer Center, Florida’s cancer registry, and the U.S. Census Bureau to present statewide cancer statistics alongside sociodemographic data to facilitate meaningful comparisons.
