Sonia is a wonderfully courteous individual who is driven, determined and has a talented eye for design. Add all of that to her ability to get on with anyone, she is an asset to have in a team. I have had the pleasure of working and collaborating with Sonia for several years at Sky News Design (Sky Creative), one of which as her direct manager. During her role Sonia had demonstrated her skill sets in digital and motion, spanning across an array of platforms from TV, Social media, to web and mobile. Sonia’s responsibilities included liaising directly with journalists in a live newsroom environment, providing the best design solutions to visualise complex stories, often under tight deadlines and across multiple formats, whilst also making sure to adhere to the core brand principles. Sonia was also responsible for working on longer-form projects like developing our core design language across Sky News’ platforms, creating cross-platform subbrands, and collaborating on debate shows housed within virtual studios. Along with closely working with the wider design team, production teams and clients, Sonia also demonstrated the ability to work independently, which highlights a maturity within a designer and the trust to deliver. It’s been a delight to work alongside and witness Sonia’s growth as a designer and the confidence in herself. I know that any team or project she finds herself in, she’ll give it her all and I look forward to seeing what she creates.
