Scroll no further! Within 6 months of starting her business development role at Esri Australia, Rylea surpassed all expectations and left her new-starter peers in the dust. Now, nearly 2 years on, Rylea's knack for relationship building and client centricity have made her exceptionally effective at spotting opportunities and winning business for the team. Outside of her role, Rylea takes an active part in creating a positive company culture by organising activities and promoting inclusivity. She's always the first to step in by planning informal gatherings and events that bring the team together. Rylea is also no stranger to exerting soft power and influence within the organisation to kick-start team building initiatives. Rylea's sales effectiveness, knack for relationship building, and positive attitude make her an indispensable part of the business development team.

Rylea joined our ITS team with immense knowledge and passion of GIS and slight technical IT knowledge. I interviewed Rylea in both her first and second interview with Esri Australia, by the second interview I was blown away with the research she had done since the first interview from a technical perspective. I never had to explain something to Rylea more than once, within days of training she hit the ground running and proved herself as an outstanding member of our team. Due to her astounding work ethic I never had to be concerned if a task or project that Rylea was working on would be finished, no matter what she would get it done. Rylea would always be the first team member to stick her hand up for extra tasks to either help the team or learn things she did not yet know. If Rylea came across complex problems she would always push herself to learn, inside and outside of business hours. It was no surprise Rylea was scouted from another department within Esri Australia as everyone could see her potential, she is huge asset to Esri Australia and we are very lucky to have her.

Tutor for ENS253 Introduction to GIS

During this time it was my role to independently run two classes of approximately 60 students per week. The curriculum for the course was an introduction to the field of GIS theory and software. During this role students undertook weekly tasks that focused on data creation, data management and migration, vector and raster analysis, metadata, cartography and the designing of workflows that solved real world problems. ArcMap (Esri), ENVI and QGIS were the primary GIS software tools used throughout the course. In addition to weekly classes it was our responsibility to mark assignments and course content, provide the necessary tools and information to the students, host one on one consultations and group assignment sessions, communicate complex theory in digestible language and develop engaging lessons that kept students focused and attending class each week.
