I'm currently responsible for introducing predictive models to better aid in understanding where our markets are going, this includes forecasting and preparing data for more advanced methods of analysis in the future. Immediate findings aided in resource expectations and allocations during the current oil bust.In anticipation for expanding analytics company wide, I'm also collaborating with our lead data and IT teams to explore and plan appropriate tools for conducting advanced analytic models. These models span from Neural Network to MCMC, and basic regression to advanced VAR/VEC/SVAR. Of highest importance in this work is the consideration of "Big Data", and being able to provide a work environment for skilled individuals to conduct such work. My current personal research involves expanding my skills in the Data Science realm. Most of my time spent so far in graduate studies has focused on coursework and thesis research. Much of our coursework has placed an emphasis on teamwork through collaborative effort among individuals, in order to ensure group success in projects. In addition, I worked to contribute valuable market information to a local firm by providing an analysis of the market potential for a new biomass product. I'm currently researching wood energy demand within the United States for my thesis while looking for new methods of business intelligence tools and data analysis in my spare time. Among the types of analysis methods learned include statistical and econometric, financial Value at Risk (VaR), financial and Real Options, stochastic simulation through Monte Carlo simulations, time-series forecasting and correlation analysis to hedge risky assets. In addition I edited, improved, and implemented new calculation procedures in the online instant rater data tables through the use of statistics and regression analysis.
