      As a fully trained member of the Coastguards Marine Pollution Control Unit, run by D.V Howells Ltd, I was on 24 hr standby for any major marine incident.My role was to operate and maintain items of equipment such as oil recovery vessels, Portable hydraulic power packs powering submersible Framo pumps, Smit Ovens portable inert gas generators, numerous oil recovery skimmers. Notible jobs included "Sea Empress", "Nordfarer", "Multitank Ascania," "Dutch Navigator," Cruise ship "Albatros", "Borga", "Spectrum"and the gas freeing of a leg of an oil rig owned and operated by one of the world leaders in oil exploration and production.Other incidents attended include pumping out flooded towns, assisting other agencies where high capacity pumping was needed. All incidents were concluded safely with the successful salvage of vessels.
