Ryan Reding is inequity’s worst nightmare. She is a relentless advocate for reproductive rights and gender equity. Ryan leverages her policy knowledge, communications expertise, and organizing skills to create a more equitable world for all. Ryan and I took five courses together at Ohio State University’s John Glenn College of Public Affairs. She consistently intertwined lived experiences and policy research to champion paid maternity leave, equal pay for women, and a woman’s right to choose throughout our course discussions. Ryan volunteered her superb editing skills to help me strengthen my 17-page paper about universal public preschool. She also pushed me to take bold positions on issues I am passionate about, such as placing an indefinite moratorium on standardized testing and adopting restorative justice practices in place of traditional school discipline models. My paper and the world were both better because of Ryan. It is with great honor, and without reservation, that I highly recommend Ryan Reding.

Supported the legislative research work of the City Council by working with the City of Columbus’ Legislative Research Office as well as the Office of Councilmember Rob Dorans. Analyzed existing Columbus City Code, removed and modified dated language, and ensured that the Code was in line with nondiscrimination regulations as a Columbus City Code Modernization project team member. Spoke at the public hearing on these changes to the city code prior to their passage. Conducted research on policy topics ranging from short term rental regulation to school tuition promise programs. Compiled briefings on policy research on behalf of my supervisors and reviewed all publicly presented materials. Contributed to weekly meetings with the Department of Public Utilities, Department of Neighborhoods, and Department of Technology, and took notes in meetings as needed.

I was the graduate research assistant on a two month project where I assisted doctoral candidate Adrienne DiTommaso and Dr. Stephanie Moulton on a report on behalf of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. In this report, we analyzed credit outcomes and behaviors for Hispanic Americans. I worked with statistical outputs to create tables, record statistical significance, and draft several written deliverables that ultimately formed a 50+ page report. Under the supervision of Ms. DiTommaso and Dr. Moulton, I was responsible for producing conclusions based on the data available and describing trends in credit outcomes for Hispanic Americans, as well as completing the initial drafts of written deliverables.
