Ryan had many supervisory roles at my organization, GOODProjects. As a fast-paced, growing, non-profit which served Washington, D.C's most vulnerable population, Ryan was perfect for the job. Ryan led various teams at GOODProjects to reach success. Success for him meant growth and success for everyone around him. Ryan created strategies and structures to ensure that the team he managed not only completed their roles and responsibilities promptly, but that they also grew professionally and personally in the process. His coaching and managing style created an environment that staff wanted to work in. People who work for or with Ryan want to show up at work, and they leave better than they came. The same goes for the communities and programs he manages. One of the best skills Ryan has is to come into a situation and immediately recognize pain points and then create action plans to address these pain points in a timely manner. No matter the industry or field, Ryan's skills can be transferrable and beneficial to any organization.

As a member of the consulting team, I have the pleasure of partnering with mission-driven senior-level staff at nonprofits and foundations, to provide financial management and planning support, addressing key organizational, operations, financial and culture opportunities. Through deep dive technical assistance, coaching and cohort-based peer learning initiatives, I convene nonprofit leaders across sub-sectos, including education, youth development, criminal justice, arts and a number of interrealted justice issues. I serve as the Initiative Manager on a portflio of consulting initiatives but most notably the Capital Advancing Racial Equity 0% interest NYC TA Loan Fund. I'm a member of the Social Innovation and Equity Council and contribute to the curation of NFF's "Where We Go From Here series", a collection of interviews where nonprofit and foundation leaders share how they've leveraged their unique assets and abilities to embrace hope, excellence, drive impact and respond to change. Founding Director of Programs
-
Jun 2017 - Aug 2019
As founding director of programs, I led the community development program strategy and implementation by ensuring the success of three core services, including the credible messenger initiative, out of school time education & violence prevention program and workforce development program as part of the economic development strategy. During my tenure, I managed the $1.2M program budget and partnered with the CFO to procure grants funds of $650k through RFPs, grants, and direct fundraising. Through a partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation, I grew our program offerings to 5 sites across SE and SW DC; increased our Department of Small Local Business Development Commercial Clean Team Program contract by 10% YOY. I oversaw daily operations of all programming, leading a team of 20 program staff with 3 direct reports, across 5 sites. In addition, I designed all curricula, staffing models, and key performance metrics for programs and core services, tracking continuous improvement data. Our data showed successful case management for 30 credible messenger youth and families, including education attainment, job placement, housing, and treatment placement, increasing family employment from 42% to 76%, and terminating probation for 93% of court involved youth; 67% of summer camp participants demonstrated growth in vocabulary and reading comprehension; 80% of participants demonstrated growth in math problem comprehension.
