  As a College Coach, I interacted with high school students seeking introduction to college in several different capacities, separated by different programs. The program called Seminar is a weeklong program where students can get career insight on their academic field of interest over the course of a week. First Star involved foster youth who were involved with the SEaL program, a three week long program that provides college credit to students that do not have the privileges that many individuals are graced with. Finally, the Academy program is a six week long program where students take actual college courses for full credit. College Courses engaged with each program, often interacting during students' free time or facilitating daily activities with students geared towards community building. In addition, College Coaches taught a life skills and reflection course to students during the SEaL program on the weekdays that the SEaL program was in session. Show less
