      Due to the COVID-19 pandemic my role varied a lot over the course of the summer. I worked on an as needed basis in the office within the Motor Vehicle Licensing department. The Majority of my time was spent working remotely on an excel project. The project involved building spreadsheets with key rate information for large commercial clients. Working remotely helped me develop time management skills, as well as taught me how to operate in a remote work setting.       During my second year at Henderson Insurance I spent about half of my time working in the Motor Vehicle Licensing Department, the other half of my time was spent working with the commercial sales team. I attended weekly sales meetings where I learned about sales and prospecting. I also worked on a variety of projects including researching potential clients, as well as providing brokers with prospect lists. During the summer I was also invited to shadow several members of our commercial team on client visits and sales calls.       This was my first year working as a Summer Student at Henderson Insurance. My Role was primarily based around working in the Motor Vehicle Licensing Department. Working in this department helped me develop customer service, and communication skills (Both in person and over the phone) As well, I worked on a variety of projects. The main project I worked on was helping develop a Cannabis Risk Management strategy for a company to adopt upon the upcoming legalization. Working on this project gave me a better understanding of risk management, as well as helped me develop research skills. Show less
