Cafe Assistant / Barista
-
Jun 2016 - Dec 2019
During breaks with University and when I am at home I work at H and D's Exotic Teas. The Cafe itself- Though the cafe is small we serve a large amount of customers in Tideswell. Some of the busiest times are the evenings where the cafe turns into a small themed restaurant serving a different menu every two weeks. These include Thai nights, Caribbean nights, Curry Nights and many more. We also have pensioners Wednesdays where we serve two course meals for £5 to anyone who is over the age of 60. We usually serve a range of meals, including British classics, along with the menus we have for the themed evenings for that week.Responsibility and the Job- This job involves a range of work including serving tables, checking stock, manning the shop counter/till, assisting in the kitchen, Making coffees , arranging takeaways and cleaning of the cafe as a whole.- I am often required to be flexible in this position, adapting to whatever job needs doing at a moment’s notice. Due to this keeping up with the pace of the cafe and getting jobs done is vital.

These were often drawn ideas that are presented to the head designer of the company-Researching and Developing chosen ideas to a first draft concept. This included a scale drawing of the concept with tolerances and materials considered to a professional and presentable standard.-Developing Range plans of these final concepts. Including bookcase's, tallboys, coffee tables and sideboards-Creating Range plans for manufacturers on AutoCAD from these concept ranges to scale and including inside and hidden detail's. This also included adding annotations about materials and sizes as well as considering the language the manufacturers use, making the english as simple as possible to understand-Creating 3D models on Solidworks and 3DS Max ready for presentation

This requires a lot of people skills and knowledge in dealing with a range of personality's - Showing kids, ranging from primary school to the end of collage or six form, that university is an option even if your family doesn't have a lot of money. Showing them and teaching them that the schemes set in place by the government, with student finance, are made to benefit low earning family the most.- All in all the main responsibility of a students in class rooms ambassador is to provide children in school with a goal to aim for at the end of there education, and that where your from or who you are doesn't matter when applying to university so long as you acquire the grades needed to get in. To inspire children to try hard in school and not see it as a burden but an opportunity.
