Manager - Fleet Services
-
Aug 2013 - Present
I've been in the role now for over 9 years as the Manager Fleet Services. As part of the role I had to oversee three different work units consisting of fleet procurement, fleet fit out and fleet operations and managed up to 18 staff with direct reports. During this period fleet numbers have increased with demand and complexity of the new vehicle fits have increased with the demise of the locally produced police vehicle and reliance on new fully imported police pack vehicles. A challenging period for sure. I've been the contract manager to numerous exiting and new government contracts including the current fit-out contract for vehicles, vehicle leasing and disposals contracts, fuel, tyres, accidents and repairs just to name a few. As well as the work mentioned above I've been involved (as either project manager or key member) in many projects of specific builds request for vehicles, light medium and heavy vehicle/trucks. Some include the following: large brawler truck replacements, emergency light truck replacement, tilt tray replacements, water police truck replacements, new drug/booze bus replacements, field catering truck replacement and many more. So far a hugely challenging but highly rewarding position! Show less

A career progression was available at DEECD at the time and I accepted the role of Fleet Manager. The position allowed me to become more strategic in my thinking about how the fleet moved forward. I developed new working procedures, started and ceased some contracts with external suppliers, investigated the purchase of an Fleet Management system for the department and managed up to 3 staff. An excellent experience. A career progression was available at DEECD at the time and I accepted the role of Fleet Manager. I made the move back into the Government in late December 2003 when the new operating procedures were been developed and set up within DTF and VicFleet. An exciting and challenging time which I enjoyed for the period I worked there. My first experience working in Fleet gave me a passion to continue working in the vehicle leasing and finance side of Fleet Management. Within this role I was responsible for the vehicle acquisitions and disposals of the entire 1700 plus government vehicles which included many heavily modified wheelchair access vehicles and commercial vehicles. My passion for Fleet continues today. My first experience working in Fleet gave me a passion to continue working in the vehicle leasing and finance side of Fleet Management.
