What started out as simple spreadsheet work quickly evolved into a diverse and exciting position in a fast-paced team in Group Litigation. The job entailed independently maintaining client files and ensuring that clients have provided all information needed for their claim to progress in the Litigation. The role involves the close examination of client instructions and documents for discrepancies, in order to liaise with clients to clarify and resolve. This utilises a variety of communication styles, and feels both rewarding and important. Working consistently towards team goals and court deadlines has also instilled a strong sense of time management and has strengthened my ability to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities included assisting in the day-to-day running of the football club, and co-ordinating with other departments and members of staff to ensure service runs smoothly and efficiently. While much of the job was physical, the experience was invaluable in developing soft skills, such as communication, having a strong work ethic, teamwork and problem-solving. The client-facing nature of the job also allowed me to develop an approachable, responsible and professional demeanour, which has served me well in my professional career.

Saint John’s Community Centre is a community-based voluntary project which has been running in Old Trafford for 30 years. The Centre offers a variety of ad-hoc jobs and learning opportunities, which have proved to be priceless in my later roles. These include:• Administrative work: Tasks ranged from keeping filing systems secure and organised, to writing copy and other materials for the Centre. • Leaflet distribution: posting advertisements and events/activities to local public homes.• Creating posters using computer software to put up around the community centre.
