  I run my own research firm as well as working for Silverhorn Investment as their Chief Asia Strategist. I lead a team to provide Asia strategy, research and advice through creating comprehensible and usable information from places where government signals can matter more than market signals (India, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia and above all China). Train country analysts in how to use rules, political structures, and databases to provide forecasts, analysis, opinion and strategy. Also train analysts in how to create and structure databases.

  Combined academic research with also being Director of Policy Research for the University of Hong Kong's think tank. I prepared and secured major research grants (HKD$8.8m for 3 years) for the Institute; ran a number of academic projects, largely in teams; prepared and taught courses; and managed the public outreach program, including the AsiaGlobal Online magazine. Regularly spoke and wrote for various overseas and local media, and represented AGI overseas. I managed the research projects of 12 AsiaGlobal Fellows, mid-career leaders from around the world who perform a three month research project, having first been an AsiaGlobal Fellow myself.

Alone and with others, I managed and produced a number of Australia-China monographs, articles, conferences and major research projects. I also secured funding from government, academic, and private sector bodies, including multiple successful grant proposals.
