Project Title: Analysis of the Decrease in Hype-C Gene Expression Upon Induction of DNA Damage Using single celled eukaryotes Tetrahymena thermophila as a model organism, our team tested the DNA damage repair pathways as well as the involvement of different genes in those pathways. RT-PCR and gel electrophoresis were used to compare gene expression in both untreated and DNA damaged cells. We determined that our gene does not play a role in DNA damage repair, but more time was needed to make conclusive results. Show less

Project Title: Testing Bromelain as a Potential Chemotherapeutic in Drosophila melanogaster Using third instar Drosophila melanogaster larvae as a model organism, our team tested the antiproliferative effects of capecitabine and its interactions with gamma radiation. A dose-response curve was generated to demonstrate the ED50 of the compound, and we determined that Bromelain was a less efficacious chemotherapeutic than previous in-vitro studies.
