Cirtec Medical is industry-leading outsource partner for end-to-end product design, development and manufacturing of Class II and III medical devices, specializing in today’s most cutting-edge product technologies. As a R&D Engineer at Cirtec Medical, I brought medical devices from concept through commercialization by utilizing problem solving skills and creative thinking. Key Projects: • Intracardial Ablation Signal Generator Generated and maintained CAD using Solidworks and created schematics and component specifications to document mechanical designs. Managed complex system level connection diagrams, supported PCBA and bulkhead pin-mapping efforts, and designed data and power cable harnesses. Conducted IEC60601 assessments and applicability reviews that fed into the product design requirements. • Commercial Covid-19 Test Kit: Lead and completed a manufacturing line transfer in three weeks’ time. Developed the manufacturing and inspection instructions and documentation. Investigated root causes of non-conforming materials through NCMRs. • Atrial Shunt: Created and performed characterization test protocols on nitinol prototypes to evaluate designs and support modifications. Fabricated human vasculature test fixtures for system level deployment testing. • Topical Drug Delivery Device: Facilitated development verification and validation testing through creating test fixtures, protocol documentation, and performing the tests. Support the manufacturing transfer, championed NCMR investigation and rework instructions Show less

As part of the Sanger Laboratory, I work in two separate research groups that focus on designing and developing innovative technologies for neuromotor recovery and rehabilitation for children with Dystonia. In the Biofeedback Group, I support the human clinical trials for a wearable vibrotactile feedback sensor that allows individuals to more accurately obtain voluntary muscular movement information. As part of the study, I record EMG and motion tracking data during the trial sessions and optimize MATLAB data processing algorithms to determine the efficacy of the device. In the Exoskeleton group, I assist the development of smart pneumatic powered exoskeleton suit that will be used a lightweight and stabilizing solution for extreme cases of dystonia. During the Spring of 2018, I created a bench-top testing platform that characterizes the relationship between the mechanical properties of force, length, and pressure for the pneumatic muscles in which we develop. I am currently working on a parametric design model for the interaction forces between the human and robot using Solidworks FEA in order to optimize our muscle designs and configurations. To construct the testing platform, I fabricated a metal frame with an acrylic blast shield, created the circuits for the various electronic components and sensors, and wrote a closed loop control and data acquisition algorithm through LabVIEW software. Advanced Technologies Intern
-
May 2018 - Aug 2018
As part of the Nevro’s Advanced Technologies Team, I utilized my R&D, mechanical design, and systems experience to push the innovation of spinal cord stimulation. Throughout the summer I have spearheaded a design project for a future generation ultra-miniaturized implanted pulse generator. I investigated novel electrical components and encapsulations solutions, hermetic packaging technologies, and lead interfaces that would allow for the smallest and most power efficient means of delivering Nevro’s stimulation therapy. I architected functional and physical electrical component diagrams, designed mechanical parts and assemblies, and then worked closely with integrated circuit consultants and medical grade vendors to develop a production timeline and cost outline for these components. At the end of my internship, I constructed a design report and product profile that outlined why, how, when, and the rough cost to bring this innovative new product into production. Show less

Jan 2016 - May 2017
At the Engineering Research Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering, I supported graduate students on developing smart rehabilitation devices through designing and fabricating mechanical components, writing LabVIEW and MATLAB algorithms to interface sensors, and creating feedback control loops. In addition to the research projects, I also orchestrated an Educational Outreach Course for international undergraduate engineers. As part of the Outreach Course, I created interactive demonstrations covering EEG/EMG data acquisition, 3D modeling and printing, kinematics, robotics, telecommunications, and microcontrollers. May 2016 - Aug 2016
As a Laboratory Technician at UL, I conducted Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) tests that analyze the RF energy absorption into the human body from various telecommunication devices and technologies. The results would then impact the approval from the FCC for these devices to by sold in the European or American markets. In order to conduct these tests I operated high-level equipment such as signal generators, multiple degree-of-freedom robotic manipulators, RF dipoles, and various sensor calibration and measurement instruments.
