Oversees the management of a 44-person team responsible for the administration of Ontario Works and Homelessness Prevention. Key responsibilities include: - Efficient management of over $13M in social assistance funding and a client caseload of over 1,100 individuals. - As required by the Ontario government, leading our team through an extensive social assistance modernization process – Employment Services Transformation. - Leading and overseeing the design and implementation of our municipality’s homelessness prevention programs ($3.2M). Current focus: to dramatically increase our supportive housing portfolio. Also leading efforts to develop a three-year homeless prevention strategy. - Day-to-day conduct of a broad range of human resource-related tasks, including hiring, mentoring, goal-setting, investigations, labor negotiations, and terminations. - Oversee social assistance fraud investigations. Twenty-one investigations were sent to the Crown’s Office in 2022. - Building team morale, engagement, and communications by leading in the creation of a division-wide wellness and activities committee and producing a monthly departmental newsletter that highlights HR changes, operational priorities, and team excellence.
