State Hazard Mitigation Officer

Oversee a team of eight managing Federal Funds authorized in chapters 404, 406 and 407 mitigation of the Stafford Act. Currently responsible for $600 million of Hazard Mitigation Program, Pre-Disaster Mitigation and Flood Mitigation Assistance Grants which includes state management cost and all sub awards. These projects include Acquisition, Elevation, Mitigation Reconstruction, Power Redundancies to critical facilities and Infrastructure Projects that reduce losses due to natural hazards including flooding, hurricane, tornado, wildfire, land subsidence, and other hazards.We work with communities to develop strong, complete and programmatically eligible applications for submission to FEMA. Once approved we work closely with the communities during the implementation phase to ensure programmatic requirements are met and projects are closed out within the period of performance.

Hazard Mitigation Planning Supervisor

Provide technical assistance to local governments for hazard mitigation planning and grant writing for mitigation planning activities. Advisor and member of the development team of the North Carolina Emergency Management--Risk Management Tool (RMT) and iRISK both of which are used for producing comprehensive natural hazard risk assessments and will include technological and man-made hazards in the next update. Manage four professional planners who manage several local hazard mitigation planning grants, review the local plans for compliance of the 44 CFR 201.6 and provide technical assistance to local governments. Assist as required in the North Carolina Emergency Operations Center. Coordinate with FEMA and ISO for the separate review of local hazard mitigation plans for compliance of the National Flood Insurance System's Community Rating System requirements. Hazard mitigation plans may also serve as the required flood mitigation plan for the Community Rating System, a program under the National Flood Insurance Program. Stand in for the State Hazard Mitigation Officer as required. Experienced in the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

I am responsible for painting duties that include preparation, selection, and application for various surfaces. In addition to my primary duties I am responsible for other maintenance duties such as but not limited to electrical, carpentry, HVAC, preventative maintenance and general building maintenance. General Partner - Commercial & Residential Plumbing

Prioritized and scheduled work for myself and employees. With all new construction I was directly responsible for helping the customer with picking out the fixtures, pricing the fixtures and ensuring they are ordered and arrive in a timely manner. I work closely with my CPA to make sure sales and income taxes are paid on time. I review reports generated by my CPA. These reports consist of accounts receivable, accounts payable and year to date taxes paid. These reports help me run the day to day operations of the business ensuring that we are a profitable business. I was instrumental in winning a contract with Lowes in March of 2009. With this contract, we were awarded seven Lowes stores to install for. We are expected to install the product they sell in a set time frame, warranty it for one year, ensure customer satisfaction, and try to sell other products to the customer through Lowes.

Asbestos and Lead Abatement Manager

My last duty assignment was the Non-Commissioned Officer In-Charge (NCOIC) of the Asbestos and Lead Abatement Shop. As the NCOIC I directly supervised four Airmen. I assigned them work, ensured there training requirements were met to EPA and OSHA standards, made sure that their annual physical and blood work was up to date to meet OSHA standards, supervised all work being performed on the base, by contractors or my airman, involving the disturbance of any asbestos or lead based paint. I was responsible for ensuring that all federal and state EPA and OSHA regulations for the disturbance of any amount of asbestos were followed.

Staff Sargent

Staff Sergeant Utilities System Journeyman – Repaired and maintained all water mains on base including but not limited to repairing breaks, tapping, installing and/or replacing fire hydrants and valve maintance. The water mains ranged in size from 2” to 24”. Performed daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on 24 sewer lift stations. Responsible for troubleshooting lift stations when they went down and if they could not be fixed immediately I was responsible for installing the bypass system used for that individual station. Preformed preventative maintenance on all sewer piping, manholes and grease traps with a vacuum and jetter equipped truck Performed annual tests on backflow preventers and repaired or replaced as needed. Performed annual tests on fire suppression systems and repaired or replaced as needed. Familiar with most all types of fire suppression systems however most familiar with wet systems, dry systems, deluge systems with AFFF. Maintained two pump houses which had three 500gpm diesel engine pumps and each had its own 250,000 gallon water storage tank feeding the deluge fire systems. Repaired and maintained plumbing systems in all buildings and dormitories. Operated heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, water trucks, articulating water trucks, dump trucks, soil compactors, sheepsfoot rollers, skid steers and forklifts.
