I was the first to report longtime Northridge High head football coach Erik Thompson leaving to take the same position at Ogden High and I was the first to report the retirements of longtime head football coaches Russ Jones (Syracuse High) and Kory Bosgieter (Fremont High).• Took early note of highly-talented athletes inside my area of coverage and followed them throughout their high school careers -- athletes including Julian Blackmon (currently playing football at the University of Utah), Kennedy Redding (currently playing volleyball at BYU), Hailey Bassett (currently playing basketball at Utah State University), Jaxon Brenchley (signed to play basketball at Utah), Trevin Knell (signed to play basketball at the University of California-Berkeley) and Ben Rigby (signed to play baseball at BYU).• Have written over 150 feature stories.• Created and maintained a social media presence including over 2,500 Twitter followers.• Created “Coach of the Year,” “Athlete of the Year” and “Team of the Year” feature stories from conception to implementation, increasing readership of All-Area package by nearly 50 percent.• Started football preview series to spotlight each of the high school football teams in our area, attracting an average of over 15,000 unique visitors in the first three years.• Had my work published by The Associated Press and used by ESPN.• Initiated and successfully maintained daily coach contacting in season to report game scores, statistics, and highlights while continuously seeking breaking news and feature stories.
