Bio
Kristine McGowan
Ryah is very professional both inside and outside of the newsroom. She holds one of the most difficult positions at the Daily 49er, as she is responsible for finding news content for the newspaper daily; managing the staff writers; and assigning stories to them as needed. Despite the stress and time crunch associated with her job, Ryah handles the position very well. She communicates effectively with the staff writers--both in person and via email--as well as the editor in chief and me. She is a competent, dedicated worker who knows how to take on a difficult task when necessary.
Kasia Hall
Ryah is an extremely hard working person. The City Editor position at the Daily 49er is one of the most difficult jobs on the paper and Ryah is able to handle high stress situations with ease. In addition to managing our news writer staff, which includes students who write at all different levels, she also coordinates with our video department and photo department. This takes organization and clear communication, which Ryah accomplishes very well. I have worked with Ryah when she was a staff writer, assistant city editor and now as my employee. In my experience, she has always risen to the task and met deadlines. She is an asset in any newsroom.
