The KNAW (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences), together with its affiliated institutes, promotes the quality and integrity of scientific practice. DANS is the national expertise center and repository for research data. Many data sets and associated metadata are available in the repositories for reuse by researchers from the Netherlands and abroad. DANS provides the infrastructure, data management and archiving services, including Metadata Management, for various scientific domains. DANS also participates in the realization and management of several portals to make data available from various repositories, including the ODISSEI portal, CLARIAH and OpenAire. Part of the portals is the use of international vocabularies and ontologies such as the ELLST Thesaurus (thesauri.cessda.eu) and CBS Variables Thesaurus which are available through Linked Data technologies. The metadata is available via Data Stations and DataverseNL, partly based on Dataverse software (www.dataverse.org), open source Data Catalog software developed by Harvard. I'm jointly responsible for securing the design and further development of the next phase for the ODISSEI portal (www.odissei-data.nl) environment. He has also set up and implemented test procedures for OH-SMArt, a facility for data and metadata ingestion in the Social Science & Humanities domain. Show less
