In this project image processing and pattern recognition techniques are applied to develop new methods to automatically evaluate vascular structures and as well as the contents inside the vessel wall.• Apply pattern recognition to automatically classify plaque components inside the vessel wall of carotid arteries based on multiple MR sequences.• Development of normalization and MR-coil inhomogeneity correction techniques.• Validation and integration of new algorithms into an experimental software program.• Knowledge transfer is ensured by collaboration with industry and different hospitals. Extended my Master’s thesis project on the automatic quantification of Osteoarthritis in hand radiographs.• Developed a semi-automated prototype application to measure the joint space width in hand radiographs. This prototype is currently used within two studies in the LUMC.• Published the developed method in the journal Osteoarthritis and Cartilage.
