      I organised the Northern Undergraduate and Foundation Surgical Conference. It was a one day conference which invited leading surgeons from across the UK to talk to Medical Students. I also created our first Women In Surgery Panel to discuss LTFT training as well as provide role models for women who are undertaking a career within surgery. Throughout the afternoon 7 different surgical skills workshops ran simultaneously including; advanced suturing, wound debridement and laproscopy

      Newcastle University Widening Participation Society is a society that is passionate about levelling the playing field for students applying for medicine. Every year the society supports local children from disadvantaged schools in the area and provides encouragement, advice on the application process as well as helping to facilitate work experience placements.       I worked on two projects simultaneously whilst working for EY; Learning and Training Lead for the EOY2.0 Program - EOY2.0 was an internal change management program providing an online database for managing nominations for the Entrepreneur Of The Year program that at the time was run in 58 countries - As Learning and Training Lead my roles included producing materials that formed the basis of an eight hour training session, promotional videos, quick reference guides and organising the initial training as well as refresher trainings. I observed nurse and GP consultations with the workers witnessing predominantly musculo-skeletal and mental health complaints. I also carried out an audit on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease within workers on the factory floor and the pros and cons of bringing yearly mammograms and testicular cancer screens into the headquarters.
