Bio
Leigh Blackall
Ruth is switched on. Assign her a task and she will deliver. She has a natural ability to manage and facilitate projects, and an inclination to lead if needed. Ruth is resourceful and resilient, gracious and professional in her conduct. I have worked with Ruth through an investigation into open education resources and practices at La Trobe University for 12 months. She not only brought her research skills to the table, but her experience with the publishing industry as well. It was soon evident that Ruth could manage our group, and she did this very well. She did an excellent job coordinating the Open Conference on Open Education in 2013, and graciously negotiated the many different perspectives and ideas raised, steering us toward tangible and useful outcomes. I would not hesitate in bringing Ruth into any project, but especially ones needing direction and help getting across the line.
Matthew Riddle
Ruth has reported to me since August 2012, at first working intensively on a project exploring open educational resources for use in undergraduate teaching, and then working more broadly on projects aiming to transform the learning experiences of students in new and innovative ways. Ruth is a capable and dedicated individual with excellent research skills, and has an inquiring mind with a strong interest in education. Her excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate complex ideas in meaningful ways make her an asset to any project. I would recommend Ruth as an organised and responsive team member who contributes high quality ideas, and an articulate presenter capable of producing written work of publishable standard.
