    • Ambulatory Registered Nurse - Women's Clinic/Obstetrics
      • Aug 2021 - Aug 2022

I have returned to UVMMC to continue to work in the Women's Clinic after a brief career intermission to relocate outside of the Burlington area. Currently, I provide remote phone triage support and coordination of care to obstetrical patients in the clinics of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Midwifery Group, & Generalist MD providers at Women's Services. This allows our on-site nurses the capacity and flexibility to manage patient care needs within the clinic. I continue to participate in unit-based activities to streamline workflow and provide staff education. Most recently, I created and delivered staff education on how to emergently transport an obstetrical patient from the clinic to Labor & Delivery. Show less

I absolutely love working with the team at UVMMC Women's Clinic. The collaboration amongst staff and support from leadership to pursue projects where I can provide additional support to my co-workers has been an excellent place to pursue my passion of providing staff education in addition to my regular patient care duties within the clinic. Since UVMMC is a regional referral center to 1 million people located in Vermont and the Upper New York area I have gained a wide breadth of experience in obstetrical nursing. Show less

This was a remote contract position with the U.S. Air Force at Osan AB, South Korea. I worked in the Education & Training office for the medical group to provide high fidelity medical simulation for all staff in the 51st Medical Group. Through my creativity, adaptibility, and collaboration I was able to generate a robust program to meet the needs of the 51st Medical Group personnel. Working in the ambulatory care setting provided new skills and learning experiences. As a RN in this clinic I was able to assist providers by assessing and managing patients, with standing physician orders, those that presented with upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and gastroenteritis. Additionally, a significant amount of time was spent collaborating with providers, pharmacy, insurance companies and other health care agencies to provide seamless care for our patients. • RN - Women's Center

In this position, I continued to develop my skills and expertise in the field of women's health. Most of the patients I cared for were in active labor and many spoke only Spanish. This was a unique opportunity to further learning about the Hispanic population and provide culturally competent care to women and their families. As a public health nurse in a small border town in west Texas I had the invaluable experience of learning the needs and challenges to the people in the area. With available resources, I worked to provide programs to the community, prevent and/or limit the spread of infectious diseases, and participate in ongoing disaster management training for the county and the state of Texas.
