CathRx is an Australian medical device start-up company manufacturing cardiac catheters with platinum coated electrodes which are unique in the global market. The products have been commercialised from R&D to European sales. • My role was to commercialise the electroless platinum coating process, turning it from a laboratory system into a full production tool. • My first priority was to analyse the previous work and understand the failings. • I instituted a series of changes and determined the optimum parameters. • I then assessed the findings and implemented the changes. This included producing new documentation, working instructions and the quality inspection procedures required to complete the process in a controlled and repeatable manner. • My most recent project has been to widen our coatings portfolio with platinum electroplating and metallic platinum rings.

Senior Account Manager

My role with Orica was primarily commercial, but my chemical knowledge gave me a great insight into my clients’ business and enabled me to communicate well and solve their technical supply issues. • The clients covered a range of industries, paint & plastics manufacturers, explosives & gas manufacturers, general chemical companies, plastic film manufacturers and solvent suppliers • I worked with clients to ensure their projects succeeded with our chemistry. • It was critical that I protected my existing business and prevented the competitors from poaching my clients; this was achieved primarily by ensuring the highest levels of customer service and exceptional attention to detail. • I wrote proposals for single transactions and complex ongoing business arrangements as required.

Enthone is a global speciality chemical manufacturer for the surface coating, plastic and metal-finishing industries. My role with Enthone was twofold. I was the State manager for NSW & ACT. I was also the National Sales Manager for the Electronics Chemical Division. The Technical aspect of the two roles above directly encompassed aligning my company and my clients’ planning, budgeting, marketing, materials handling, purchasing, quality assurance, training, storage and deliveries. • I trained my clients to troubleshoot their processes, integrating my chemical and WHS knowledge with their plant capabilities to demonstrate a total package solution for all aspects of their sites. • I coached my clients to accurately assess the cost of ownership of their processes to increase manufacturing profitability. • I used a variety of computer programmes and packages for the budgeting, planning, reporting, logistics, troubleshooting and communications aspects of my role. • The coaching sessions with my interstate teams enabled effective planning, aligning our manufacturing and commercial needs as stakeholders.
