I started my role at BAE systems as a Quality Control inspector, this entailed me to look at various systems on the ship i.e. RRSS, Fire Alarms,Water tight integrity, Shafts, CPP, Stabilisers, Lighting, Power, HVAC (Ventilation), Lub Oil, Main Engines, Switchgear, Tas's (Changes to the ship VO), clearing defects and raising defects. all these systems were required for the ship of Oman to go to sea. I have had to attend various meetings with the project manager and director to ensure that deadlines are met for sea trials and hand-overs to the customer. Towards the end of the contract I have now been put in to a Lead role liaising with the customer and attending key meetings. This contract so far has been a challenge for me but a challenge that I have enjoyed. Show less

Starting my role with Imtech as an electrician on the production line installing and terminating various pieces of electrical equipment, this role quickly changed from being on production to supervising the backshift. Clearing defects and hitting targets that Imtech had set. I quickly picked up the use of different programmes used throughout the BAE establishment including CMPIC, TRI-BON and DCS. For the last six months I have been working days as a supervisor closely with the QC of BAE minimising the amount of defects. I have learnt to understand what the customer requires for this build, I supervise 12 electricians on a day to day basis setting daily work tasks ensuring my deadlines are met this includes pushing forward the build and TAS's, defects and overcoming problems that have arisen throughout the project. The deadlines met so far include passing the PI up to the FI and the customer inspection this is on numerous compartments on the Oman project. Show less

Working for Guardian ELC on two projects, the first was for the supermarket chain Waitrose. This was a new build where I installed all of the distribution boards and wired them to the schedules given to me, reading various wiring diagrams and line diagrams ensuring that the installation was wired correctly. The second project at John Lewis Southampton I worked nights for three months. After the initial month I worked up to a Supervisor running the shift with five men in my team. This job was successful and finished on the date expected ensuring the store was open for the Christmas season Show less

Whilst working for HV power, I was part of a two man team installing, refurbishing and fault finding street lights. During this job the role was organising the work for the days shift as well as producing regular risk assessments for each task undertaken. When out on the road I had an electrical improver with me teaching him the correct procedures including health and safety. Working for Batchelors and Smiths I was involved in installing a new production line for a pharmaceutical company producing new medicine. The duty to install the main supply in this establishment was given to me also looking after the BMS (ventilation system) and fire alarms. There where huge penalty clauses if the deadlines were not met, these were imposed by the main contractor Wyeth’s. I was a supervisor during my time here with a minimum of 8 men in my team. Working for Electromotive I was installing electric car charging units across the country from Glasgow to Cornwall, mainly based in London. Installation of the units included liaising with the ground workers ensuring that the cable travelled the correct route from source to the unit. This was a quick Toronto from a CO-OP to a Tesco. I was a member of the small team of three which turned this project over in 4 weeks. Duties were the re-installation of shop floor lighting, main supply power to the bakery and deli counters and a full new install of C.C.T.V. This was a quick Toronto from a CO-OP to a Tesco. The Mountbatten project Southampton University was a project researching into fibre optic technology. Here I undertook many different tasks. Ranging from ladder rack, conduit, trunking, tray, basket, Phillips lighting programmes, maglocks, PIRs, e-stops, power and lighting. This building had specific 'clean room' procedures to follow on some of the work. The tasks set were both interior and exterior in all areas of the building. There were 60 electricians at the beginning of the job and I was one of the last 4 remaining, completing the snag list to the expectations of the client. Show less
