I have worked with Russ Kupperstein in a variety of spheres during his time at ISB. It was in collaborative unit-planning sessions, Tech Task Force Committee meetings, classroom PBL activities, and technology training sessions that Russ proved himself an enthusiastic and engaging colleague and teacher. Always eager to create meaningful and enduring learning experiences for his students, Russ adeptly integrates technology in novel and appealing ways. Having a son in one of his classes has also given me a unique perspective. We will certainly miss Russ when he leaves. He is an important ally in modeling pedagogical best practices and will surely be a valued, influential, and entertaining educator for many years to come.

As a high school science instructor, Mr. Kupperstein knew his students' learning styles. He was responsible for over seventy students on an annual basis. He took an interest in their academic, emotional and social developmental progress. He was genuine in his regard for their well-being, and he comprehended the importance of monitoring each and every student’s cognitive, social and emotional development while leading our secondary science department. His versatility as an instructor was demonstrated by the wide range of courses he taught since becoming our high school science instructor in 2009.
