Chatteris Native English Teacher
-
Aug 2018 - Present
Working as an English Teacher in an elite primary school in Hong Kong, I teach English lessons to primary 1 – 6, help to organised their lessons and exams. During school, I run the English club and after school lessons to improve our students’ English level. I also had the opportunity to trained students for their yearly English Speech Festival which helps me to improve on my listening skills. Running English themed events in school including our monthly English hall events and Funfair give me the opportunity to improve on my organisation and planning skills and most importantly help me with time management and meeting deadlines. Also, within Chatteris, I had to implement English Language Environment Enrichment Programme (ELEEP) which includes talking with students in the English corner, interacting with students outside the classroom and organising fun activities for the school. I am also the Primary two coordinator. This role includes planning meetings, delegating roles to others and making lesson plans. In addition, I take part in the Heep Hong Volunteering which allows me to work with students’ with Special Educational Needs. By doing this it helps me to work outside my comfort zone and helping children who needs extra help in the classroom which shows my commitment to making a positive difference to child’s life. I also take part in the refugee storytelling which allows me to run interactive storytelling sessions with young children and mothers in collaboration with the Hong Kong Society of Asylum Seekers and Refugees. I had the opportunity to also create and facilitate language workshops for less privileged citizens and refugees which helps to increase my ability to cope with emotionally-draining and traumatic situations.
