Category Management is a collaborative continuous process between manufacturers and retailers to manage a shopper need state which we refer to as a ‘category’. The purpose of this process is to optimize shopper satisfaction and fulfil the role chosen by the retailer for that category within the overall portfolio of categories in the retail format. At DotActiv we understand that category management is a process that is a combination of assortment, price, shelf presentation and promotion which optimizes the category role over time.Key Responsibilities include:• Engaging with customers on a regular basis to conduct scoping sessions which includes determining the high-level need, requesting and receiving data, designing of a preliminary category plan and allocating all roles and responsibilities to the customer.• Brief and prepare data for scanners or the scanning and conducting of any data including the receiving of briefing from retail buyers or planners or the liaison with store managers and store staff, preparing of data for scanning and the collecting and reworking of product and fixture data.• Managing all data to compile shelf plans, planograms and guides for all stores.• Complete requested reporting, present all plans and receive feedback from customer and ensure customer satisfaction. The correct sign-off and hand-over procedure must be followed to insure correct communication to store and successful store implementation. • Additional administration includes setting up of Category flows, Consumer Decision Trees and Hierarchies, merchandising principals and in-store events merchandising manuals.• Additional responsibilities include in-store category merchandising by the Retail Space Planner as per store planogram.
