In my role as a senior operator I have gained various skills which I fall back on as a Team Manager. I am able to run majority of the production lines as well as complete the required checks and audits. My priority is always safety first, ensuring the 5S audit is completed and corrective actions accomplished promptly. I complete my quality checks promptly I highlight none conformances to the relevant departments and try to resolve them ensuring my line is running at standard as soon as possible. I organise my staff and deal with conflict as an when it arises. I use SAP in my role recording production and downtime, I also track my line efficiency and always ensure that I am planning ahead, for change overs for example, to ensure I exceed my targets at every opportunity. A number of years ago I was approached by a McBride representative asking if I would be interested in becoming a coach. I grasped this chance and have since had training. I am an active coach not only in my senior operator role but also as a councillor for all four shifts.

This role entailed me working with vulnerable young teenagers who were able to achieve their grades , but has under achieved helping them come through troubled concerns, still maintaining their grades. Giving them the support guidance to overcome their concerns, as a listening independent who was non judgemental but listened. This enabled the client to grow and reflect on their future and presence, and what they could change to get where they needed to be. Being able to keep good rapport and build on their confidence in confiding in me was a great experience.
