      CAPOX Project: Analysis of emission-driven changes in the oxidation capacity of the atmosphere over Europe The main objective of this project is to evaluate the impact of decreases in NOX in the ozone levels and the oxidative capacity in the main European cities, where the levels of the main OH y NO3 tropospheric radicals are expected to have substantially changed, as well as those of nitric acid or secondary organic aerosols (SOA). All these greatly important changes in the chemistry and composition of the urban atmosphere in European cities, which may affect on a regional scale as far as the European continent is concerned, should be taken into account from now onwards when designing environmental strategies, in order to improve the the air quality of these cities and their surroundings in a more effective way. This project consists of two subprojects that are being carried out by The CEAM Foundation and The Polytechnic University of Madrid and University of Castilla-La Mancha. Subproject 1, requested by the Atmospheric Chemistry team in the CEAM Foundation, will carry out atmospheric simulation experiments of different modelled scenes and conditions in the EUPHORE (European Photo-Reactor) chambers, checking their impact in controlled and almost-real atmospheric conditions, paying special attention to those substances not routinely measured currently. On the other hand, these controlled experiments will allow to establish their impact on environmental pollution in a parameterised way and isolated from the atmospheric phenomena. This subproject will use some of the results from subproject 2 to establish the different scenarios to be simulated at EUPHORE.       Junior Researcher on the european project "EUROCHAMP 2020 - Integration of European Simulation Chambers for Investigating Atmospheric Processes - Towards 2020 and beyond"EUROCHAMP-2020 aims at further integrating the most advanced European atmospheric simulation chambers into a world-class infrastructure for research and innovation. The project is composed by a coordinated set of networking activities, which deliver improved chamber operability across the infrastructure, as well as standard protocols for data generation and analysis. Trans-national access is provided to sixteen different chambers and four calibration centres, becoming the core of the project. Joint research activities enhance the capability of the infrastructure to provide improved services for users. Cooperation with the private sector a fundamental pillar of the project, and it is necessary to exploit the innovation potential of the infrastructure by supporting development of scientific instruments, sensor technologies and de-polluting materials. Overall, EUROCHAMP-2020 has the goal to significantly enhance the capacity for exploring atmospheric processes and ensure that Europe retains its place in atmospheric simulation chamber research.
