Disaster Governance and Risk Reduction Fellow

The Disaster Governance and Risk Reduction Fellowship aimed at responding to disasters in the Indian context and finding solutions in collaboration with all agencies involved- namely NGOs, INGOs, State, and Central Government bodies as well as exploring the role of CSRs in the process. Various initiatives to support the actions of the government formed part of the fellowship program, especially with the Covid19 pandemic at hand.I was presented with the opportunity to coordinate with and contribute to the Shelter Sector Committee and its members including various INGOs, NGOs, and grassroots level organizations in bridging gaps in the sector and seeking solutions to mainstream DRR at all fronts of design and planning, in an attempt to encourage community participation. As a part of the Collaborative Advocacy team, strong advocacy was carried out on suggesting methods to strengthen and develop a disaster-responsive Delhi Master Plan. Various Joint Rapid Needs Assessments reports on the prevalent disasters in the country and the recommended response for damages incurred, were made.
