I am working as a pivotal member of the Auditory Neuroscience group and handling most of the electrophysiological and specialized lab animal works. I have contributed about $2 million in funding from various grants and have completed three major research projects seeking answers to age and noise-related hearing loss. Our lab has patented a drug with the potential to treat noise-induced hearing loss and published several high-quality research papers. I am conducting research work on cochlear implant technology and nanoparticle drug delivery systems in animals. I am leading research projects on cochlear metabolomics in search of biomarkers for cochlear injury by noise and cochlear implant surgeries.I am also involved in developing large animal models for inner ear diseases which could be valuable in researching new therapies for human auditory conditions.Previously I have completed research projects on the modulation of ATP signalling in ageing mouse cochlea; cochlear functional adaptations in the lateral wall, and fibrocytes. in noise and age-related hearing loss; potassium recycling pathways of the cochlear tissue, examining the ionic concentration in different supporting cells, connective tissue and homeostasis in ageing and noise exposure. One of my interesting works has been to identify connections between hearing loss and dementia in Alzheimer's disease using various behavioural test models.I am also providing expertise to the translational research work on functional imaging of cochlea using MRI & developing it as a non-invasive technique to diagnose inflammation.I have supervised postgraduate students; imparted training in various research techniques to newly inducted researchers/students.
