In recognition for Robert Price during 2007-08 whilst performing as Expat Senior Operations Advisor at the PT2 BTC pump station located in a valley close to Erzurum circa 2000m above sea level, and a strategic element of the BTC Oil transport pipeline operation and Caspian transportation infrastructure. Robert was responsible as the site assurance for the operation along with the National site management structure. Robert came with a wealth of experience and support for the team covering a wide range of topics, from control room operations, maintenance, control of work, HSE and operations experience. Robert was able to identify gaps within the operation, and equipment and was able to provide practical remedies and corrective actions. Robert was well liked by the Turkish work force and was well accepted as one of the team, both professionally and personally, and well respected for his professionalism. He was always fair, reliable and accurate in his support. Rob was my immediate support, as Operations Chief Engineer for the site, and we learnt a lot through his sound mentoring skills, and energising, positive attitude. Fortunately Robert was on hand when the station went through a major environmental catastrophe, disabling the station and halting the transport system, effecting the Caspian operation and offshore production. Robert managed to control the event, communicating clearly along the management line, the circumstances, enabling key support personnel to be deployed and additional activities to be managed in all effected facilities. Robert then personally went to task to supervise and assist in the coordination of the major corrective requirements to bring the station back from major environmental flood damage, with a very small technical team, including the onsite workforce. Robert was inspirational and actively participated in the repair work, drawing from his mechanical and Operational background took a major role in the installation of refurbished equipment, and ensuring the site was brought back to operation following major equipment removal, repair and reinstatement, clean up and re energising. The station was successfully restarted in quick time and in conjunction with the pipeline and the Caspian assets resuming production. I would have no hesitation in stating that Robert would be an asset to any organisation that requires a dedicated, committed and well-mannered professional to join their operation.
