I have known Roy as a peer mentor in the University of Sydney Business School’s Peer Mentoring Program during semester 2, 2021. The Business School Peer Mentoring Program aims to build social and academic networks for commencing students in order to increase their sense of belonging to the learning community of the School. Mentors were particularly important given the impact of Covid-19 on the classroom and extra-curricular experience of first year students. All mentors undertook training in leadership and teamwork, organisation, interpersonal and cultural competence skills. Each small group met a minimum of three times and maintained weekly email communication. In particular, Roy reported developing leadership and interpersonal skills. I am enormously grateful to Roy for a superb contribution to the Business School Peer Mentoring Program, and wish them every success in the future.
Chadd Knights
Roy has a fantastic work ethic and is highly intelligent. Over the past 9 months that he has interned with us, he has grown significantly. He has the ability to sift through vast amounts of information and cut right to the core of the issue. I suspect that his science background has helped him here. Roy has the foundations of an exceptional investor. Namely, his ability to stick to the facts and double down on the stocks that move against him whilst also being able to cut his losses when the facts move against him. Further, he also has the ability to let his winners run. These traits are key to what separates the good investors from the best. Over time, I look forward to watching him progress.
