I first met Roy at an FAO meeting in Brussels in 2007; we went out for a beer afterwards and discovered we had a lot in common. We have been great friends and collaborators ever since. Roy is passionate about seafood and all things related to it; is always thinking about how to improve the industry, and has a truly global network of contacts and colleagues that respect his knowledge and abilities. Roy gets the job done!

Chefs are an essential element in the supply chain as their influences spread far and wide and yet many are not specifically trained in seafood. For many it is a skill they engage on their journey as a chef. The seafood industry is not a great communicator so I am aiming to be a conduit between seafood and the chefs - happy to answer their questions, assist and connect them where I can and communicate seafood stories to their program. Awarded WGI's 1st Medal of Honor. Chefs are an essential element in the supply chain as their influences spread far and wide and yet many are not specifically trained in seafood. The Best Aquaculture Practices certification program has expanded its international marketing team with the addition of Roy Palmer as BAP's new business development manager for Australasia. Palmer will help manage relationships with seafood suppliers, buyers, retailers and foodservice outlets on the Australian continent for BAP, the world's leading aquaculture certification program. BAP Vice President of Development Peter Redmond said Palmer's appointment demonstrates ongoing commitment to assist companies in the marketplace, as well as a commitment to advance the principles of BAP within the overall seafood community. "This is a very committed decision by the Global Aquaculture Alliance, the organization that develops the BAP standards," Redmond said. "As more and more retailers in different areas of the globe start requiring responsibly produced aquaculture, they are recognizing that the BAP program offers the most thorough and comprehensive program. "The Australian and New Zealand retail and foodservice operators are also realizing the important role they play in this global industry. Roy Palmer's appointment will be pivotal in helping drive the initiative forward in these markets. We are extremely fortunate to have found someone as talented and well respected as Roy to execute this role."
