When I first started working with Roy at Canon (UK), I thought him ‘just’ a good salesperson and leader. I quickly came to appreciate he is both a very highly skilled sales person and inspiring leader, one that can motivate others to not only follow him but strive to achieve their very best. Shifted DHL client engagements from mid-level engagement, to strategic value conversations at board level so negating heavy competition, discounting pressures and bleeding of key clients within heavily commoditised markets. My team focused on building new platforms, of strategic importance to clients while building upon DHL's global leadership across its core businesses. Partnering with technology startups and leading financial partners, we built the world's first blockchain-enabled logistics & trade finance platform with credit-insured risk mitigation to deliver enhanced cash flow and working capital to our clients. With sponsorship directly from the main Board, I went on to develope a cloud-based, client-centric, business-development platform, designed to help DHL's clients to expand market share, grow faster and improve profitability by releasing investment cash from the clients' balance sheet. Client outcomes were further improved through; • Lower funding costs. • More effective credit risk decisions and ultimately, more customer credit availability at a lower cost. • Deeper access to growth capital. • Reduced credit losses This was achieved by incorporating AI/ML driven predictive credit analytics to enable accurate credit default predictions and working with leading global trade credit insurers and banks to change the way credit risk is assessed and priced. Led a team focused on the optimization of finance and accounting processes within Xerox's global tier 1 customer portfolio, primarily through digitization and automation of order to cash and purchase to pay processes. Built a global order to cash and aftermarket business development platform for high value/high margin products within the global Oil and Gas infrastructure with data capture, mining and line item reporting of high value, high margin, equipment replacement opportunities and recaptured a lost yet highly valuable business segment from the shadow market. This was subsequently implemented across other sectors. This win was followed by a bid at the same corporation, to digitize all F&A processes globally. Recruited Deutsche Post DHL as a partner for global physical and hybrid mail delivery, leading to an invitation to join DHL. Worked with a global leader in express delivery to solve serious loss-making challenges in their European business. Identified critical revenue leaks due to non-performing customs clearence processes triggering full fee refunds on late deliveries. Built end to end digital customs clearance procedures and documentation reducing customs 'caging' delays by 90%, fee refunds by over 95% returning the European business to a profit making position.
