You Make It is a creative, self-empowerment programme for unemployed and underemployed women aged 18-30 from East London. Women emerge from the programme with the confidence, skills, networks, knowledge and experiences needed to lead financially independent and happy lives. InSpired To Work (ITW) works with 'NEET' young people aged 16-25 from Southwark providing intensive support to overcome personal and skills related barriers to employment. There is a focus on both primary (general employability skills) and secondary barriers to employability such as emotional and mental health issues, housing issues, substance misuse and offending backgrounds. In my role I have been engaged in: - Managing a caseload of young people with predominantly high needs (complex cases including mental health, learning disabilities and offending backgrounds). - Developing and maintaing strong partnerships with Southwark Probation and Kinetic Youth to expand our outreach provision for at-risk young people. - Providing 1-1, bespoke and holistic support to assist each young person into sustained employment through assessing needs & building PDPs to map out short and long term SMART based career goals. - Building confidence, motivation and self efficacy through self exploration activities and motivational interviewing. - Offering general employability support around CVs, covering letters, job applications and interview skills. - Working alongside corporate and voluntary organisations to source and match work placement, employment and apprenticeship opportunities for young people. - Working in a multi agency context to safeguard young people. The Challenge is a youth leadership programme funded by The Cabinet Office as part of the National Citizens Service. The programme seeks to mix 16-17 year olds of various backgrounds, promote leadership and citizenship as part of an amazing life changing experience.- Developed strong outreach links by fostering relationships with over 66 schools across Hackney, Haringey and Tower Hamlets.- Exceeded outreach target by recruiting 378 young people for the programme.- Developed partnerships with a range of community and private sector organisations to offer eye-opening opportunities for young people. De-Cipher was an initiative that I developed based on the creation of a reading group which sought to engage 18-30 year olds from around Central and North West London. The programme was funded to help increase accessibility of reading groups and increase literacy. The project provided each member with a selection of texts to study ranging from psychological thrillers, memoirs and graphic novels. - Applied for and secured funding for the project. - Created a project plan and budget for delivery. - Managed the project budget and ensured that spending fell within set parameters. - Managed and assessed risk. - Organised and developed project curriculum to ensure a well-rounded and engaging project. - Developed partnerships with local organisations to gain access to free stationary and discounted texts through Belsize Stationers and Primrose Hill Books. - Developed and implemented monitoring and evaluation processes to map each service user's progression on the project and the effectiveness of the project. UpRising is a part-time leadership programme for 19-25 year olds across London, Bedford, Birmingham and Manchester. The programme is funded by the Cabinet Office and uniquely supported by PM David Cameron, Deputy - Nick Clegg & Leader of the Opposition Ed Miliband. The main bulk of my role revolved around assisting the recruitment drive to get young people on the programme. I promoted the opportunity through social media, liaising with local organisations and also presenting at universitites and job fairs. Later on in the drive, I assisted in facilitating group assessments and also interviewed candidates at the assessment centres for London and Bedford. I also supported across areas of research, funding, evaluations, creating how-to-guides and provided general administrative support. Show less
