  As a lone technician, my main responsibility is to manage the orders of the nine teachers to ensure that they received the practical equipment they want in a safe and timely manner. Therefore, I oversee budgets, make practical set ups and disseminate key safety information from CLEAPSS and the local LA to ensure the technical department is compliant. During my time at the school, I have been given the opportunity to train a part-time laboratory helper as well as a 6th form student to undertake some of the lower risk tasks. Show less

  As with any technical role, my focus was ensuring practical equipment was available for teaching and learning, which included launching a brand-new laboratory at the college. In addition, I was entrusted to work with students in the laboratory to complete demonstrations as well as supervise. My role stretched into health and safety with a keen focus on COSHH, risk assessment, first aid, chemical storage and use.   During my studies, I was able to start working at Pizza Hut as a waitress. My keen eye for detail and strong work ethic was quickly noticed and this lead to a rapid rise within the organization from kitchen staff to staff trainer and finally shift manager. As shift manager I was responsible for health and safety, COSHH, RIDDOR, stock control, deliveries, running of shifts, controlling staffing levels, hitting sales targets. I still kept my role of staff trainer. I trained all the staff for the Stratford Upon Avon Maybird restaurant opening. Show less
