    • Working in the Abbot Point of Care Research lab (protein engineering)
      • Jan 2013 - May 2013

I have worked in the research lab of Abbott Point of Care during the winter and summer of 2013, my group is focusing on looking at 14 blood test panels for differential diagnosis. We are developing new assays that can measure four indicator for liver assessment: Bilirubin Oxidase (BOX), Pyruvate Oxidase (POX), Glutamate Oxidase (GLOX), Sarcosine Oxidase (SOX). My work was to produce active and stable recombinant protein to catalyze reaction producing H2O2. I was focused on specific area on subcloning and protein expression. I used techniques such as DNA and protein Isolations, cloning, transformation and purification, western blots, and enzymatic assays. Additionally my work was involved with another project that focused on the efficient expression of recombinant protein using chaperons This work allowed me to understand the application of molecular genetics tools and how does impact the health of individuals by improving diagnostic tools using simple microorganism such as E.coli.
