Roula is an extraordinary program manger and was responsible for coordinating my fellowship cohort of the Wu-Tsai Neurosciences Institute at Stanford University. There were multiple aspects to Roula’s position and her professionalism and positivity were key to getting things done not just effectively but with a general agreement; her style has served as an example to me in my own career development. Roula’s roles included organizing the agenda for meetings and ensuring the task-list was accomplished, stimulating participation and interaction within a group of highly diverse academic trainees, and coordinating group activities. Roula is very personable and this trait above all made the greatest impression on me as she strived for excellence in her job in a way that illustrated her passion for scientific management.

Roula is by far one of the best program manager I have encountered in my scientific career. She served as program manager while I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute. During the two years I spent in the Institute she represented a wonderful support in managing our training activities while demonstrating a great sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. On top of her many administrative duties Roula invested also time in community building. She showed interest in our science and cared to learn our personalities. By doing so she was able to build a united team of fellows and managed to keep us motivated in our research path.
