Ross joined my team at Andiamo as a design engineer. He has been pivotal in driving the patient and family experience across our private clinic service, our hardware products and worked closely with the software team to ensure consistency across everything. Ross is very curious, an engaging communicator, brilliant designer and contributed to, and led, the development of multiple Andiamo products such as our back brace, 3D body data capture solution and tools for clinicians. He’s a phenomenal design engineer to have on your team, extremely versatile and a lovely person to work with.

Niven Curtis - Woodcock

Ross has an expansive understanding of design thinking and design processes. He has an amazing ability to view things differently, thinking outside the box and always has the user in mind. He is an inquisitive problem solver, enthusiastic for new projects and opportunities and always keen to expand his knowledge. He’s been my unofficial mentor for the last two years and is a constant inspiration to all who work with him.

Leo Cancer Care was founded with one goal in mind, to be the more human way to deliver radiation therapy. This is a very big goal but breaks down into three aims. 1. Improve the clinical effectiveness of Radiation Therapy through upright positioning 2. Improve the access to Radiation Therapy by removing the need for large and expensive rotating gantries and instead introduce slow patient rotation 3. Empower patients and clinicians to face Radiation Therapy together, eye to eye.

    • Stove Design and testing on the Family Energy Project
      • Mar 2013 - Jun 2013

Designing a stove to meet the needs of the local community of Moshi and training four local teenagers to build and sell the stoves in the hope of producing a self-sustaining project. The project was initiated by Kyoto Energy based in Kenya for Child Reach International, a London based charity doing incredible work all over the World. I worked closely with two great members of the Child Reach Tanzania team (George & Joshua) who were truly invaluable in the implementation stage of the project. Responsibilities -Research in local area -Visiting local workshops and selecting the best option as a base for our new project -Sourcing cheapest materials and tools -Training four local teenagers to build the stoves -Improving the stove design to work with available material and tools These tasks were all accomplished in the first four days along with the first stove being finished. The stoves used up to 60% less firewood, produced no smoke after initial ignition and allowed both loose biomass and wood to be used unlike any other stove in the market.
