SnapnSave launched a grocery shopping app and required an experienced new business developer to present their platform to FMCG brands nationally. I’ve spent the past five years presenting to, negotiating with and closing campaigns for Blue Chip accounts across South Africa. The budgets involved in FMCG marketing are huge, however the marketing teams are often quite risk averse and it’s often been a long-sell process in many instances. I started with +100 potential accounts and had to establish which clients / sectors would be the most lucrative. The role then evolved into a more Key Account Management based role, I concluded handling 12 main accounts with a handful of smaller secondary accounts. My main accounts included Unilever, Pioneer Foods, Nestle, Diageo and Coca-Cola to name just a few. I’ve managed staff through this process, as well as assisting in building the internal processes needed to develop and grow the company.
