Ross was a pleasure to manage during his time in the digital marketing team at Vertu Motors. Upon joining the team as part of his graduate programme, he was eager to learn and ensured he was involved in all projects. Ross demonstrated that he could manage a number of tasks, including reporting data and insights into the business and developing a strong knowledge of the applications within the Google Marketing Platform. Ross’ worth ethic, enthusiasm and personal skills are infectious and his absence within Vertu's digital marketing team was felt when he moved on to another area of the business. An asset to any team, it was rewarding watching Ross grow, learn and adapt so quickly and efficiently.

At the time of writing this, Ross is a dependable, efficient, fast learning member of any team. If you're reading this a year or more down the line I would imagine Ross is a dependable, efficient, fast learning leader of a team. It's been excellent to play a role in his introduction to the professional world. I foresee great things from this charismatic individual!

During my role as part of the Digital Marketing team, I project managed the delivery of website changes and improvement roadmaps for performance optimisation. This was achieved by understanding the online behavior of the customer, through both quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Using tools such as Google Analytics, Hotjar and user testing to understand and respond to real barriers to conversion. The delivery of these projects was achieved by refining website change requests to be user driven and suit the goals of the business, whilst managing the internal teams and communicating the progress to key stakeholders. The role involved working closely with the wider marketing team to continuously improve and optimise the Group’s websites. Particularly, this included maintaining and reporting on key touch points in the journey, by visualising the main reasons for users abandoning and identifying areas of opportunity. Show less

Throughout my Graduate role at Vertu Motors plc I have undertaken a series of placements supporting the group’s retail and B2B brands. The roles have covered; digital marketing, retail marketing, PR and campaign management. Firstly, during the digital marketing placement I developed a knowledge of campaign reporting and tracking via the Google Marketing Platform. Additionally, the ability to optimise channels and acquisition to the websites. Throughout the retail marketing placement I planned media and delivered campaigns based on business and manufacturer needs. In addition, analysing channel performance and reviewing media plans based on buying metrics and audience profiles. During my time in the PR placement I liaised with key stakeholders to write and release a number of press releases, whilst also maximising their exposure across digital mediums. Finally, throughout my placement in campaign management I was responsible for planning group campaigns and brand activity for Bristol Street Motors and Macklin Motors. The role included organising tactical sales events and ensuring their delivery from planning and buying above the line media through to campaign reporting. Additionally, I was also responsible for scheduling brand activity; most recently facilitating the sponsorship of Formula 1 highlights on Channel 4. Show less

Alongside my final year degree studies, I completed a paid internship. The community interest company aimed to develop their current position and expand into recruitment for mental health workers explicitly. As such I was assigned the project of developing a feasibility report surrounding their proposed idea. The task consisted of collating information and liaising with mental health teams, with the final report specifically displaying research into competitors operating in this market, whilst also considering financial factors. Securing an undergraduate placement gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in a working environment. My role involved supporting marketing communications and product development, completing daily tasks and individual projects for both departments. Particularly, I was responsible for coordinating marketing campaigns alongside the marketing manager. Throughout my placement I managed a number of projects, including a intermediary marketing campaign and the organisation of branch launches. Specifically, the role included regularly assisting the Newcastle Intermediary Business Development Managers in preparing campaigns and conferences to promote the Society’s intermediary mortgage business. Likewise, due to the nature of the business, I have a developed understanding of compliance and regulatory marketing issues. Show less
