I was part of a small team of 11 people who were responsible for the movement of both musical equipment and bands throughout the festival site. A great deal of responsibility was placed on each member of the team in order to ensure that the bands and their expensive equipment arrived safely at the required destination. Throughout the festival period, communication was of the upmost importance and it was imperative that I stay in constant radio contact with my manager to ensure that jobs were done efficiently and correctly. Working in a team of 15 part time retail sales staff and reporting into the store manager, I held a varied role in the local, small sized store. I was allocated to wherever in the store I was needed, either working on the tills, restocking the groceries or addressing price changes where there were reductions made on food hitting sell-by dates or on special offer. I regularly worked late-night shifts which involved helping with store closure and tasks such as cleaning, disposing of out of date food and emptying of tills. I also worked early morning shifts and was part of a small team to ensure that every shelf was stocked and the store was in good shape for the day’s opening. I was proud to receive a rare 100% score in a ‘mystery shopper’ test and subsequently a personal letter of congratulations from my area manager. Every team member was expected to interact with customers and be available to assist on any product or subject required, whilst being polite and with good humour. Show less
